Solipsism

Solipsism is the philosophical idea that only one's own mind is sure to exist. In terms of skepticism, it emphasizes doubt about the existence of the external world and other minds. In the context of physicalism, which holds that only physical things exist, solipsism challenges the notion that consciousness can be fully explained by the physical world. It intersects with the mind-body problem by questioning how mental experiences relate to the physical body. Lastly, the private language argument suggests that if one can only know their own mind, true communication about private thoughts is fundamentally problematic, complicating our understanding of shared reality.
