Soliloquy

A soliloquy is a dramatic device used in plays where a character speaks their thoughts aloud, usually alone on stage. It allows the audience to gain insight into the character’s inner feelings, motivations, or dilemmas that they might not express openly to other characters. Unlike a dialogue, which involves conversations with others, a soliloquy is a private speech directed by the character. This technique helps deepen understanding of the character’s mindset and advances the plot by revealing internal conflicts or decisions at critical moments.
