Solid and liquid propellants
Solid and liquid propellants are types of fuels used to power rockets. Solid propellants consist of fuel and oxidizer combined into a single, solid mass, which ignites and burns uniformly, providing straightforward storage and handling with reliable performance. Liquid propellants involve separate liquid fuels and oxidizers stored in tanks, which are pumped into a combustion chamber for controlled burning. This allows for greater maneuverability and throttle control. Both types have unique advantages: solids are simpler and more stable, while liquids offer flexibility and efficiency. The choice depends on mission requirements, balancing factors like complexity, control, and safety.
