solfège

Solfège is a music education method used to teach pitch and sight singing. It assigns specific syllables—do, re, mi, fa, sol, la, ti—to the notes of a musical scale, helping singers and musicians internalize pitch relationships and develop a better sense of melody and harmony. By practicing with these syllables, individuals can more easily identify and reproduce musical notes, improving their overall musical ear and performance skills. Solfège can be used in both fixed-do (where do is always a specific pitch) and movable-do (where do is relative to the key) systems.
