Solera System
The Solera system is a method of aging and blending liquids, commonly used for products like sherry, brandy, or balsamic vinegar. It involves stacking barrels in tiers, where wine or spirit from the top barrel is periodically drawn for bottling, and the same amount of liquid is then replaced with younger product from the layer above. This continuous process ensures a consistent flavor and quality over time, blending older and newer liquids seamlessly. It allows for gradual aging, creating complex, balanced flavors, and ensures that each bottle reflects the combined character of the entire system rather than a single vintage.
