Sole

A sole is the bottom part of a shoe or foot, providing support and protection. In footwear, it's the outermost layer that contacts the ground, designed to offer durability, grip, and comfort. Historically, the term "sole" also refers to the undersurface of a true leather shoe's inner part, which supports the foot. Beyond footwear, "sole" can mean the entire bottom surface or base of something, or, in legal terms, ownership, indicating exclusive rights or control over a property or resource.
