Solar Year
A solar year is the time it takes for the Earth to complete one orbit around the Sun, returning to the same position relative to the Sun’s apparent path. This period is approximately 365.24 days. The extra approximately quarter-day is why we add an extra day, February 29, every four years (leap year), to keep our calendar aligned with Earth's orbit. The solar year forms the basis for the Gregorian calendar, ensuring that our months and seasons stay synchronized with Earth's seasonal cycle.
