Solar Storms

Solar storms are intense bursts of charged particles and energy from the Sun’s surface, often caused by solar flares or coronal mass ejections. When these energetic particles reach Earth, they can disturb our planet’s magnetic field, leading to phenomena like auroras (northern and southern lights). Solar storms can also disrupt satellite operations, GPS, radio communications, and power grids. Their severity varies, with some causing minor disturbances and others posing significant risks to modern technology and infrastructure. Monitoring solar activity helps us prepare for and mitigate the impact of these natural space weather events.
