Solar Pond Technology
Solar pond technology is a method for collecting and storing solar energy using a specially designed body of saltwater. It consists of three layers: a top non-salty layer that lets sunlight pass through, a middle zone with increasing salt concentration that traps heat, and a bottom layer with high salt content that stores the heat. The pond absorbs sunlight, heating the lower layers, which can then be used to generate electricity or provide thermal energy. This system allows for continuous energy collection, even after the sun sets, with the salt gradient acting as a natural heat storage mechanism.
