Soil Saturation

Soil saturation occurs when all the spaces, or pores, between soil particles are filled with water. This happens after heavy rainfall or excess water input, leaving no room for air in the soil. Saturated soil can’t absorb more water, leading to poor drainage and increased risk of water runoff or flooding. It also affects plant health, as roots need air along with water to grow properly. Understanding soil saturation is important for effective irrigation, construction projects, and managing water drainage to prevent issues like erosion or waterlogging.
