Soil Profile
A soil profile is a vertical section of the ground that shows the different layers, or horizons, of soil. These layers typically include the topsoil, which is rich in organic material and nutrients, followed by subsoil, which may contain minerals and clay. Below that is the parent material, which is less weathered. Each layer has distinct colors, textures, and properties, shaped by factors like climate, vegetation, and time. Understanding soil profiles helps us assess soil fertility, suitability for agriculture, and environmental health.
