Sogdian
The Sogdian were an ancient Iranian people who lived mainly in Central Asia, around present-day Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, from around the 4th to the 11th centuries CE. They were renowned traders and merchants, acting as intermediaries along the Silk Road, which connected China to the West. The Sogdian language was written in its own script and used in commerce, religion, and daily life. Their vibrant culture and trade networks helped facilitate cultural exchanges between East and West, influencing regions across Asia and Europe. Today, their legacy is recognized through archaeological finds, their unique script, and historical contributions to Eurasian commerce.
