Socony-Vacuum Oil Company was an early American oil company formed in 1931 through the merger of Socony (Standard Oil of New York) and Vacuum Oil Company. In 1959, it was renamed Mobil Oil Corporation, which later became part of ExxonMobil, one of the world's largest oil companies.
