Sociological Role Theory

Sociological Role Theory suggests that individuals behave in ways shaped by the roles they occupy within society, such as student, parent, or employee. These roles come with expectations and norms that guide how we act, interact, and present ourselves. For example, a teacher is expected to educate and maintain order, while a parent provides care and guidance. Our behavior varies depending on the role we are fulfilling at a given time, helping society function smoothly. Essentially, role theory emphasizes that much of our behavior is influenced by the social positions we hold and the responsibilities they entail.
