Society of Saint Pius X (SSPX)

The Society of Saint Pius X (SSPX) is a Catholic organization founded in 1970 by Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre to preserve traditional Latin Mass practices and Catholic teachings. It operates independently from the Vatican and often emphasizes strict adherence to previous Church doctrines and liturgical forms, especially before the reforms of the Second Vatican Council. While it is in communion with the Catholic Church, some of its views and practices have led to tensions with church authorities.
