Socialist Albania
Socialist Albania refers to the period from 1946 to 1992 when Albania was ruled by a communist government led initially by Enver Hoxha. After World War II, the country adopted a Stalinist model, emphasizing state control over the economy, suppression of dissent, and isolation from much of the world, including the West and later China. The regime implemented land reforms and nationalized industries but faced economic difficulties and severe authoritarian rule. By the early 1990s, widespread discontent led to the collapse of the communist government and the transition to a multi-party democracy and market economy.
