Social Emotional Learning Competencies

Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Competencies are skills that help individuals understand and manage their emotions, build positive relationships, make responsible decisions, and handle social situations effectively. These competencies include self-awareness (recognizing one's feelings), self-management (regulating emotions), social awareness (understanding others’ perspectives), relationship skills (communicating and cooperating), and responsible decision-making (choosing ethical actions). Developing these skills supports emotional well-being, improves overall interactions, and helps people succeed in school, work, and life by fostering empathy, resilience, and responsible behavior.
