Social ecology and anarchism
Social ecology is a philosophical framework that explores the relationships between ecological issues and social structures, arguing that environmental problems often stem from hierarchical social systems. Anarchism, in this context, advocates for a society organized without oppressive institutions, promoting self-managed communities and egalitarian relationships. Social ecologists often support anarchist principles, believing that true ecological harmony can only be achieved through decentralized, cooperative governance that respects both nature and human rights. Together, they propose that addressing environmental crises requires addressing social inequalities and fostering grassroots democratic participation.
