Social and Solidarity Economy
The Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) refers to a set of economic activities and organizations—like cooperatives, non-profits, and community enterprises—that prioritize social goals, community well-being, and sustainability over profit. These entities work collaboratively, sharing resources and decision-making, to address social needs, support local development, and promote fairness. SSE emphasizes social value, environmental responsibility, and inclusive participation, aiming to create a more equitable economy where profits benefit communities, rather than just individual owners or shareholders.
