Soakaway
A soakaway is an underground system designed to manage excess surface water, such as rain runoff, by directing it into the ground. Typically comprising a gravel-filled or perforated chamber, it allows water to slowly seep into the surrounding soil, reducing flooding and preventing overloading drainage systems. Soakaways are commonly installed in gardens or near buildings to help control water flow, improve drainage, and protect properties from water damage. They are effective in extracting water from paved or impermeable surfaces, promoting natural water absorption and maintaining proper drainage levels.
