SNORA family
The SNORA family consists of small nucleolar RNAs (snoRNAs) that primarily guide chemical modifications—like methylation—on other RNA molecules, especially ribosomal RNAs (rRNAs). These modifications are essential for the proper assembly and function of ribosomes, the cell's protein factories. SNORA snoRNAs have specific regions that recognize target rRNAs and direct enzymes to modify precise nucleotides, ensuring accurate protein synthesis. They are key players in maintaining the quality and efficiency of cellular protein production.
