SNMP Community String

An SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) community string functions like a password that controls access to network devices such as routers and switches. It allows administrators to read device information or make configuration changes. There are generally two types: a "public" string for read-only access, and a "private" string for read-write access. Think of it as a key—if you have the correct community string, you can view or modify device settings; if not, you're prevented from doing so. Properly securing community strings is essential to protect network devices from unauthorized access.
