snakebite management
If someone is bitten by a snake, stay calm and try to keep the bitten limb immobilized and at or below heart level. Call emergency services immediately. Remove tight clothing or jewelry near the bite site, but don’t cut or try to suck out venom. Keep the person still to slow venom spread. If possible, mark the swelling and note the time. The focus is on quick medical care; antivenom may be needed. Do not apply ice or tourniquets, and avoid giving the person food, drink, or alcohol. Prompt treatment is key to reducing serious effects.
