Smriti

Smriti refers to a category of ancient Indian texts that are considered to be of human origin, as opposed to divine. In Hindu tradition, Smriti includes a wide range of literature, such as the Dharma Shastras, Puranas, and epics like the Mahabharata and Ramayana. These texts encompass laws, moral guidelines, stories, and cultural teachings that shape Hindu practices and beliefs. While they are important for understanding Hindu philosophy and ethics, they are viewed as less authoritative than Shruti, which comprises texts believed to be revealed by God, like the Vedas.
