Smooth muscle cells

Smooth muscle cells are specialized muscle cells found in many internal organs, such as blood vessels, the stomach, and intestines. Unlike skeletal muscles that move bones, smooth muscle cells help regulate functions like blood flow, digestion, and breathing by contracting and relaxing automatically. They are spindle-shaped, with a single nucleus, and work involuntarily, meaning we don’t control their actions consciously. Their ability to contract smoothly and steadily is essential for maintaining organ functions, blood pressure, and process regulation within the body’s internal systems.
