smokejumper

A smokejumper is a specially trained wildland firefighter who parachutes into remote or hard-to-reach areas to combat wildfires early. Typically jumping from aircraft at high altitudes, they land directly in the fire zone equipped with firefighting gear. Their main goal is to control and extinguish fires quickly before they spread uncontrollably, often in wilderness areas without nearby roads or access. Smokejumpers must be highly skilled in parachuting, survival, and firefighting techniques, enabling them to respond rapidly to emerging wildfires and protect lives, property, and natural resources.
