Stochastic Optical Reconstruction Microscopy (SMLM) is a super-resolution imaging technique that allows scientists to visualize structures at a scale smaller than traditional microscopes. It works by turning on only a few tiny groups of fluorescent molecules at a time and precisely pinpointing their locations. By repeating this process many times and combining all the data, SMLM creates highly detailed images of microscopic structures, such as proteins within cells. This method surpasses the limits of standard microscopy, providing insights into cellular components with nanometer-scale resolution.
