Smart Card Technology
Smart card technology involves small, plastic cards embedded with a microchip that can store and process data. These cards can be used for various applications, such as secure payments, identification, and access control. When inserted into a reader, the chip interacts with the reader to authenticate the cardholder, making transactions safer and more efficient. Smart cards can be contact-based, requiring physical contact with a reader, or contactless, using radio frequency to communicate wirelessly. They enhance security by encrypting information and often replace traditional methods of identification like passwords and magnetic stripe cards.
