Slobodan Milošević (politician)
Slobodan Milošević was a Serbian politician and leader of Serbia from 1989 to 2000. He played a key role in the breakup of Yugoslavia and was known for nationalistic policies that fueled ethnic tensions and conflict, especially during the Yugoslav Wars in the 1990s. Milošević was charged with war crimes and crimes against humanity by the International Criminal Tribunal, but he died in custody before his trial concluded. His leadership is remembered for both his influence on Balkan politics and the controversial, often destructive, consequences of his nationalist approach.
