Sleep Walking
Sleepwalking, or somnambulism, is a disorder that occurs during deep sleep, typically in childhood. During an episode, a person walks or performs activities while still mostly asleep, displaying actions without being aware of them. The person may appear awake but is actually in a state of partial consciousness. Sleepwalking can be triggered by factors such as stress, sleep deprivation, or certain medications. While generally harmless, it can pose safety risks. Treatment may involve improving sleep hygiene, managing stress, or, in some cases, medication. It’s essential for caregivers to ensure a safe environment for sleepwalkers.
