Sleep Apnea and Pulmonary Hypertension
Sleep apnea is a sleep disorder where breathing repeatedly stops and starts during sleep, leading to poor sleep quality and various health issues. It can cause excessive daytime sleepiness and increase the risk of heart problems. Pulmonary hypertension is a condition where the blood pressure in the lungs' blood vessels is abnormally high, making it difficult for the heart to pump blood through the lungs. Both conditions can be interconnected; untreated sleep apnea can worsen pulmonary hypertension, as disrupted breathing affects oxygen levels and heart function. Early diagnosis and treatment are important for managing these conditions effectively.
