Slave Morality

Slave morality is a concept from philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche that describes a moral system rooted in humility, meekness, and resentment. It develops among oppressed or weaker individuals who, unable to pursue power openly, value qualities like kindness and humility as virtuous. They invert traditional values associated with strength and dominance, viewing traits like assertiveness as harmful. This morality often arises as a response to domination, fostering a sense of morality based on suffering and weakness. In contrast to "master morality," which celebrates power and nobility, slave morality emphasizes endurance and moral integrity born out of adversity.
