Skinning
Skinning is a computer graphics technique used in animation and modeling to attach a 3D character's skin (the surface) to its underlying skeleton (the bones). This process allows the skin to move naturally as the skeleton is animated, enabling realistic motion. Essentially, skinning assigns how each part of the surface responds to different bones’ movements, ensuring smooth and believable deformation of the character’s appearance during animation. It’s a fundamental step in creating animations for movies, video games, and virtual reality, helping characters move convincingly in a digital environment.
