Skin pH
Skin pH measures how acidic or alkaline your skin’s surface is, ranging from 0 (very acidic) to 14 (very alkaline), with 7 being neutral. Healthy skin typically has a slightly acidic pH around 4.5 to 5.5, which helps maintain the skin’s natural barrier, protect against bacteria and fungi, and keep moisture in. When the pH becomes too high or low, it can disrupt this balance, leading to dryness, irritation, or increased risk of infections. Maintaining the skin’s natural pH is essential for a healthy and functioning skin barrier.
