Skin cancers

Skin cancer occurs when skin cells grow abnormally, often caused by excessive sun exposure or UV radiation. The main types are basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and melanoma. Basal and squamous cell cancers are more common and tend to grow slowly; they usually stay localized and are highly treatable. Melanoma is more aggressive, can spread quickly, and requires prompt treatment. Protecting skin with sunscreen, avoiding tanning beds, and monitoring moles or spots for changes are key preventative measures. Early detection and treatment significantly improve outcomes, making regular skin checks important.
