Skin biopsy technique

A skin biopsy involves removing a small sample of skin tissue for examination to diagnose skin conditions. The doctor uses a sterile tool, such as a small blade or punch device, to gently cut out the affected skin area. Local anesthesia is applied to numb the skin, ensuring minimal discomfort. Once the tissue is obtained, it is sent to a lab for analysis under a microscope. The procedure is quick, usually takes less than 30 minutes, and helps identify infections, skin diseases, or skin cancer. Following the biopsy, the area may be stitched or covered with a bandage to promote healing.
