Skerry

A skerry is a small, rocky island or reef, often found in the sea, that is too small to support regular habitation. Typically formed from the remnants of larger landforms eroded over time, skerries can be dangerous for navigation because they protrude above the water's surface, especially at low tide. They usually consist of bare rocks or small, rugged islands and are common in northern maritime regions like Scandinavia and Scotland. While they may be inhospitable for humans, they can provide habitat for seabirds, marine life, and sometimes serve as navigational points for ships.
