Skeletal Development

Skeletal development is the process by which our bones grow and mature from infancy through adulthood. It begins with cartilage, a soft, flexible tissue, which gradually transforms into hard bone through a process called ossification. During childhood and adolescence, bones increase in size and density, influenced by genes, hormones, and physical activity. The growth plates at the ends of long bones allow for lengthening until they close after puberty. Proper nutrition, exercise, and health are essential for healthy bone development, ensuring a strong and supportive skeleton that maintains body structure and enables movement.
