Skagen Painters

The Skagen Painters were a group of Scandinavian artists active mainly in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, who gathered in the Danish seaside town of Skagen. They focused on capturing the natural beauty of the landscape, light, and everyday life scenes, often working en plein air (outdoors). Their work is characterized by a vibrant use of color and a desire to portray authentic, honest moments. Notable members include Peder Severin Krøyer and Anna Ancher. Their collective aim was to break away from traditional academic art and explore new, more expressive ways of depicting their environment.
