SJS (Stevens-Johnson Syndrome)
Stevens-Johnson Syndrome (SJS) is a rare but serious condition where the immune system reacts severely, causing widespread skin and mucous membrane damage, similar to a severe burn. It often starts with flu-like symptoms, followed by painful skin rashes, blisters, and sores in the mouth, eyes, and genitals. SJS is usually triggered by medications or infections. It requires immediate medical attention, often in a hospital, because it can lead to significant complications, including infections and organ damage. Early diagnosis and stopping the offending drug or infection are critical for recovery.
