Situationists

The Situationists were a group of avant-garde thinkers and artists active mainly in the 1950s and 1960s, who critiqued modern capitalist societies. They believed that everyday life was often dominated by superficial consumer culture and passive entertainment, which alienated individuals from genuine experiences. To challenge this, they promoted the idea of creating "situations"—intentional environments or moments designed to disrupt normal routines and inspire spontaneous, authentic engagement. Their goal was to foster critical awareness and encourage people to rethink their relationship with society, ultimately advocating for a more meaningful, liberated way of living.
