Sitting-drop crystallization

Sitting-drop crystallization is a laboratory method used to grow crystals of proteins or other molecules. A small drop containing the sample and a solution is placed on a platform (the "sitting drop") inside a sealed chamber. Over time, the drop equilibrates with a larger reservoir of solution, causing the molecules to gradually come together and form crystals. These crystals can then be studied to reveal detailed structural information. The technique allows for controlled, slow crystal growth, which is essential for obtaining high-quality crystals suitable for detailed analysis.
