SIRVA

SIRVA (Shoulder Injury Related to Vaccine Administration) occurs when a vaccine is injected improperly, causing injury to the shoulder’s tissues. This can happen if the needle is inserted too high or too deep, damaging muscles, tendons, or the joint capsule. Symptoms may include shoulder pain, stiffness, weakness, or limited movement, often starting within 48 hours of vaccination. SIRVA is not caused by the vaccine itself but by the injection technique. Proper administration by trained professionals can help prevent this type of injury. If symptoms occur, medical evaluation is recommended for appropriate treatment.
