Sir Ian Fleming was a British author and naval intelligence officer best known for creating the fictional British spy, James Bond. Born in 1908, Fleming worked in intelligence during World War II, which inspired his detailed portrayal of espionage. In 1953, he published "Casino Royale," launching the famous Bond series. His novels depict sophisticated espionage, glamour, and intrigue, capturing global audiences and spawning movies, radio, and merchandise. Fleming’s work significantly influenced popular perceptions of espionage and remains a cornerstone of spy fiction. He was knighted in 1953 for his contributions to literature and national service before passing away in 1964.
