Sir Benjamin Hall
Sir Benjamin Hall was a 19th-century British engineer and politician, best known for overseeing the construction of the Thames Tunnel and holding various government roles, including Commissioner of Works. He played a key part in modernizing Britain’s infrastructure and engineering projects. His prominence grew after the 1851 Great Exhibition, and he was later elevated to knighthood, becoming Sir Benjamin Hall. Interestingly, his name is associated with the "Big Ben" bell in London’s Elizabeth Tower, as it is rumored to have been named after him due to his role as Commissioner of Works.
