Sipleucel-T (Provenge)

Sipuleucel-T (Provenge) is an immunotherapy used to treat advanced prostate cancer. It works by activating the patient's own immune system to target cancer cells. The process involves collecting some of the patient’s immune cells, customizing them in a lab to better recognize prostate cancer, and then reinfusing them into the patient. This helps the immune system attack and slow the cancer’s progression. Provenge is typically used when the cancer has spread but remains asymptomatic or minimally symptomatic. It offers a personalized treatment approach, aiming to improve survival with fewer side effects compared to traditional therapies.
