Sioux Wars

The Sioux Wars were a series of conflicts from the late 19th century between the U.S. government and the Sioux Native American tribes. These wars arose as settlers and the government sought control of the Black Hills and other lands sacred to the Sioux, following the discovery of gold. The Sioux resisted attempts to force them onto reservations, leading to battles such as the Battle of Little Bighorn. Ultimately, U.S. military forces overwhelmed Native resistance, leading to the confinement of Sioux tribes on reservations and the loss of their traditional lands and way of life.
