SiO₂ (silica)

Silica, or silicon dioxide (SiO₂), is a natural compound made up of silicon and oxygen. It is most commonly found in sand, quartz, and many rocks. Silica is a major component in glass, ceramics, and concrete, making it essential in construction and manufacturing. It appears in various forms, from fine dust to solid crystals, and is known for its durability and resistance to heat. In nature, silica forms as a result of volcanic activity, weathering of rocks, and biological processes. While generally safe, inhaling fine silica dust can pose health risks over time.
