Sinus Infection Guidelines
Sinus infection, or sinusitis, occurs when the nasal cavities become inflamed due to infection or allergies. Guidelines recommend seeing a healthcare provider if symptoms last more than 10 days, worsen after initial improvement, or are severe such as high fever and facial pain. Most sinus infections are viral and resolve on their own; antibiotics are only needed if bacterial. Management includes rest, hydration, saline nasal sprays, and pain relievers. Chronic or recurrent cases may require imaging or specialist evaluation. Proper diagnosis and treatment help reduce complications and promote recovery.
