sinoatrial (SA) node
The sinoatrial (SA) node, often called the heart's natural pacemaker, is a small cluster of specialized cells in the right atrium of the heart. It generates electrical signals that trigger the heart to beat regularly. These impulses cause the heart muscles to contract and pump blood throughout the body. The SA node automatically sets the pace of your heartbeat, typically around 60 to 100 beats per minute in a resting person. Its proper function ensures effective blood circulation, supporting overall health and organ function.
